Hi There! I’m Teneha

I believe that we were all born to be musical! All we need is a rich musical environment to unlock this innate musical ability, to build our musical skills and knowledge, and to support our musical development. I also believe that everyone should be afforded the opportunity to experience the joy of music making. I am passionate about promoting skills that nurture a life long love for music!

Little Magpie Music sessions are fun, research informed and developmentally appropriate! We promote the many musical and non-musical benefits of active music making through singing, movement, playing percussion instruments, and puppet play. Our approach to music making is largely informed by the philosophies of Zoltan Kodaly and the First Steps in Music program by Dr. John Feierabend. Our music programs are designed to be sequential and promote a child’s musical and overall developmental over time.

Experience
Vocalist, singing teacher and music Educator

I started off as a singing teacher, teaching singing for several years to children (5-18yrs) and adults, both in my private studio and in a primary and secondary school. Whilst teaching singing in a primary school, I was asked to teach group singing lessons to prep-grade 2 students. This experience sparked my love and passion for teaching music to young people! I then opened my own early years music business and taught parent/carer and child group music classes with babies, toddlers and kinder children; and have run one-off music workshops as well as music programs in early years services. I love singing soul, funk and gospel music and have run my own band, as well as performed in other local brass and soul bands around town. I also love to sing and make music with our gorgeous little one!
